Project Flo 2022 – Project 2

Uplifting a Retired Homeowner in New Hampton, IA

A group of people, including adults and children, paint a white wooden wall outdoors in a garden setting. One person gives a thumbs-up, and tarps cover the ground.

The second project for Project Flo’s 10th year took us to Broadway in New Hampton, IA, where a retired female homeowner needed crucial updates to her property. The team’s first priority was addressing a leak in the garage roof, removing old shingles, and installing new ones for lasting protection. Replacing two screen doors and adding a new sidewalk outside the garage further enhanced safety and accessibility.

The service didn’t end there. Volunteers installed a step and handrail, mended the garage door threshold, and applied new caulk around the front porch windows for better weatherproofing. Each task demonstrated the caring spirit that Project Flo inspires in all who participate. Photos captured the homeowner’s joy as she witnessed her home transformed by the dedication of those around her.
